Deft Film Summer Workshop ‘21
Bring your ideas to life through our two week filmmaking workshop. The Deft Film Summer Workshop for High School Students combines professional, hands-on training with an in-class understanding of film and video techniques. By the end of the two weeks, all students will have experience working with a team and producing a film/video from start to finish. Prior experience in film or video is not required.
Price: $600
Day 1 - 10AM-3PM
Students learn about goals in film and video production as well as how different cameras create their images/footage.
Students learn how to adjust the settings in a camera to correctly adjust their exposure and motion.
Students learn techniques on focusing a shot and filming in the correct color.
Day 2 - 10AM-3PM
Students learn techniques and film theory on how to tell their story using visuals. This includes selecting lenses, framing, camera height, and shooting for the edit.
Day 3 - 10AM-3PM
Students learn which tools create what motion and see how different equipment can support their story.
Students learn how to achieve the “film look”, reaching their desired vision by combining lighting techniques with what they learned in the previous courses.
Students learn how to work with audio equipment and monitor sound, allowing them to get crisp/clean audio in their films and videos.
Day 4 - 10AM-3PM
Students learn how to back up, organize, and edit their team’s footage.
Students individually plan, shoot, and edit their own film using professional equipment. They will individually receive assistance from our team to make sure their final piece looks exactly how they want it to look.
Day 5 - 10AM-3PM
Students individually plan, shoot, and edit their own film using professional equipment. They will individually receive assistance from our team to make sure their final piece looks exactly how they want it to look.
